Andhra Pradesh & Telangana

In combined Andhra Pradesh, according to the 2011 census, the total scheduled caste population is 13,878,078 persons, with 6,913,047 males and 6,965,031 females. The scheduled castes are predominantly found in rural areas. The rural population is 10,846,333, while the urban population is 3,031,745. The working population totals 7,006,817, while non-workers account for 6,871,261. Among the scheduled castes, 7,678,259 are literate, leaving 6,199,819 illiterate.

The Madiga caste has the largest population among the scheduled castes in Andhra Pradesh, forming 48.29% of the total SC population in the state. The total Madiga population in combined Andhra Pradesh, according to the 2011 census, is 6,702,609 persons, with 3,349,277 males and 3,353,332 females. The Madigas are predominantly found in rural areas, with a rural population of 5,387,439 and an urban population of 1,315,170.
